MORNING SESSION (starts 10am)

WELCOME & INTRODUCTION

WRITING A BOOK:  Genres:  Fiction; Non-fiction

bulletFiction:  Romances, thrillers, mysteries, sci-fi, fantasy, historical fiction. Creating a story and characters. Story arcs. Twists and turns.
bulletNon-fiction:  Biographies, history, politics, travel, philosophy, sociology, current trends, fashion, music, etc.)

Making a subject interesting to potential readers. Finding the story in a non-fiction subject

GETTING PUBLISHED:

bulletLarge national and international publishers. Researching the publishing
bulletMarket and targeting your book
bulletSmall and local presses
bulletSelf-publishing. How to do it


1pm.  Lunch:  The pub in the village, The Kings Arms, does reasonably priced pub meals or sandwiches on Saturdays. Or participants are welcome to bring their own food to consume on the Workshop premises. On Sunday only meat meals are available at the pub, so if you are vegetarian or vegan you are advised to bring your own packed lunch to a Sunday workshop. Alternatively the Hope and Anchor a mile and a half away in Port Carlisle offers both vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals.


AFTERNOON SESSION (starts at 2pm.)

WRITING SURGERY SESSION:  Each participant will have a 10-minute one-to-one session with Jim to discuss their own individual book ideas.

Simultaneously:

PARTICIPANTS DEVELOP/WRITE THEIR OWN BOOK IDEAS


4.30:  Feedback session

5pm.  Workshop ends
